Privacy Policy

The AI CPE Academy (aicpeacademy.com) is operated by Charlie Barmore, CPA, CFE ("we," "us"). This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a free education platform, we do not run advertising or analytics trackers, and we never sell your information.
What we collect
- Account information. Your name and email address, handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. Passwords are managed entirely by Clerk; we never see or store them.
- Profile information you choose to provide. Your role, self-reported credential type (for example CPA or CFE), what you are here for, and an optional goal, collected during onboarding to personalize the experience.
- Sign-up and interest forms. If you reserve a seat or join a waitlist: your name, email, the description you select, and any notes you add.
- Messages to the on-site assistant and essay tutor. The text you type and any essay passage you highlight are sent to our AI provider to generate a response. Please do not enter client names or any confidential information; the assistant will not ask you for them.
- Technical basics. Your IP address is used transiently to rate-limit requests and prevent abuse. Standard hosting logs exist at our infrastructure provider; our own application logs are redacted and do not record your name or email.
- Course progress. Self-paced course progress, knowledge-check answers, and exam results are stored in your own browser (localStorage), not on our servers. Clearing your browser data clears them.
What we do not do
- No advertising, ad networks, or cross-site tracking.
- No analytics trackers. Cookies are limited to the session cookies required for sign-in.
- No selling, renting, or trading of personal information, ever.
How we use information
To operate the platform, sign you in, send the confirmations and updates you request, tailor tutor answers to the role you told us, respond when you contact us, and improve the content. That is the complete list.
Service providers
We use a small set of providers to run the platform, each receiving only what its job requires: Clerk (authentication and account records), Notion (member and interest records), Resend (transactional email), Anthropic (generates assistant and tutor responses; under Anthropic's API terms, inputs are not used to train its models), Upstash (rate-limit counters), and Vercel (hosting and server logs). Data is processed in the United States.
Retention
Account information is kept while your account exists. Interest-list records are kept until you ask to be removed. Assistant and tutor messages are not stored by us after the response is generated.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information, or to remove you from any list, by emailing charlie@aicpeacademy.com. Account deletion requests are honored, including the associated records at our providers. Every email we send you that is not strictly transactional includes a way to opt out.
Children
The platform is professional education for credentialed adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted on the site.
